The Illustratoren Organisation asked me to say a few lines about being a freelance animator and the current market situation for explanation/explainer videos around here. It’s my subjective view of course. In any case, it features a looped GIF animation! Read the interview here (German).
Prior to the Bundestag elections here in Germany on September 24, ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE launched a cross media campaign called „Geh Wählen!“ (Go vote!).
It features over 35 of my hand-drawn animations in four masterspots and several single trailers.

I had the honor to participate in a collaborative animation project by Daniel Bahr called “AT3MLOS – Eine ungefilterte Wahrheit”.
It’s about the lethal effects of “Feinstaub“ (particulate matter).
14 animators were tapped to participate in this project, each one producing a segment of 10 seconds according to their assigned section of the voice over text.

Adam Habib, Lead Camera and Staging Artist at Pixar came to Munich to share his knowledge about visual contrast and story, perspective and storytelling and … *pant/gasp* … virtual cinematography. I think that was it. And it was a LOT. And when put into practice: awesome films! … secretly, I took some notes, hehe.
“Was Illustratoren wissen müssen” (What illustrators need to know) won 1st place in the category “Erklärfilm” (explanatory video) at the Kinofest Lünen 2015, Germany. We couldn’t attend the award show, so we got the trophy at the Kinofest Lünen Event at the Berlinale 2016 in, well … Berlin this February. Many thanks to the whole festival team.
